A clamshell grab (also called a clamshell grab bucket) is a mechanical attachment used with cranes, excavators, or other lifting equipment to efficiently grab, lift, and dump loose or bulk materials. Its name comes from its hinged, two-part design, which resembles the opening and closing motion of a clam shell.
