Marine crane, is a special crane that performs transport operations in the marine environment, mainly used for transporting and transferring cargoes between ships and ships, or ships and shore, replenishing at sea, and placing and recovering underwater operating equipment and other important tasks.

Knuckle Boom Marine Cranes have double arm, powered by electric motors or diesel fuel, which drive hydraulic cylinders to extend and retract, controlling the movement of the lifting boom to achieve cargo transfer. Many knuckle boom marine cranes are fully cylinder driven and can telescope with load. They are mainly used for general cargo loading and unloading, fishing nets loading and unloading, etc.

These offshore cranes are co-ordinated by the control system and work together to complete the lifting task.

1. Lifting mechanism: most of them are composed of hanging system and winch, there are also lifting and lowering heavy objects through hydraulic system.

2. Running mechanism: generally consists of motor, reducer, brake and wheels, used for longitudinal horizontal transport of heavy loads or adjust the working position of the crane.

3. Luffing mechanism: by changing the amplitude of the lifting arm to meet the lifting needs of different distances, the knuckle boom deck crane may have two luffing mechanisms to make its operation more flexible.

4. Slewing mechanism: enables the lifting arm to rotate around the slewing center, thus adjusting the lifting direction of the heavy load.
