A New Milestone in China-Pakistan Dredging Cooperation: ENJUE Dredging Grab Shipped To Mexico To Support Green Shipping Transformation

Oct 29, 2025

On October 29, 2025, two customized dredging grabs from ENJUE Machinery departed from Shanghai Port, sailing through the Gulf of Mexico to Mexico, marking a new stage in the deep integration of "technology + green" in Sino-Mexican dredging cooperation. These "steel giant claws," specially designed for dredging Mexican rivers and ports, not only carry the technical mission of overcoming the complex local geology, but also become key equipment for promoting Mexico's "green shipping" transformation.

Green Empowerment: A Transformation from "Dredging" to "Low Carbon" This dredging grab bucket will be used for dredging waterways in the ports of Veracruz and Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico. Upon completion, the project is expected to reduce shipping costs by 25% while simultaneously reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Data from the Mexican Ministry of Transportation indicate that after the waterway widening, fuel consumption per voyage is expected to decrease by 18%, resulting in a 12,000-ton reduction in annual carbon emissions.

ENJUE's Technical Director stated, "We not only provide the equipment, but also help Mexico achieve its emission reduction targets through optimization of the entire 'grab bucket-ship-port' chain."

Policy Coordination: China-Mexico Green Infrastructure Cooperation Reaches New Heights

This cooperation coincides with Mexico's vigorous promotion of its "National Waterway Plan 2025-2030." This plan explicitly requires all new dredging projects to utilize low-carbon technologies.

ENJUE's dredging grab buckets, leveraging their advanced technology and environmental advantages, became the first Chinese product to receive Mexico's "green equipment" certification. Furthermore, its "lifecycle carbon reporting" system has been incorporated into the Mexican Environmental Protection Agency's assessment system to measure the equipment's carbon emissions throughout its entire lifespan.

The Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Mexico said, "In the past, Sino-Mexican cooperation mostly involved Chinese companies undertaking engineering projects in Mexico. But things are different now. For example, Great Wall Motors built a factory in Puebla, bringing advanced automobile manufacturing technology to Mexico. CGN carried out a photovoltaic project in Querétaro, introducing clean energy technology to the local area. Now, ENJUE's grab buckets are being used to dredge rivers in Mexico. This shows that Sino-Mexican cooperation has changed from simple engineering contracting to the export of technology and standards together."

When the steel teeth of the ENJUE dredging grab bucket cut into the Mexican riverbed, what splashed up was not just mud, but also a leap in Sino-Mexican cooperation from "technology import" to "innovative co-governance." This dialogue across mountains and seas not only dredged a river, but also opened up a new path for Chinese equipment to serve global sustainable development.
