What are the components of a Crane with Grab?

Sep 08, 2025

Mechanical Section:
Lifting Mechanism: This includes the motor, reducer, brake, wire rope, drum, and other components, used to raise and lower the grab bucket.
Traveling Mechanism: This includes the drive motor, reducer, and wheel assembly, enabling the crane to move laterally or longitudinally along the track.
Trolley: In a bridge crane, the trolley moves along the bridge, carrying the grab bucket for lateral movement.
Grab Bucket: This consists of multiple openable and closable buckets used to grab bulk materials. A grab bucket typically includes a hydraulically or electrically driven opening/closing mechanism, as well as a supporting structure.

Grab bucket details:
Bucket body: Consists of multiple openable and closing lobes (e.g., two, four, or more), typically made of wear-resistant materials such as alloy steel.
Drive mechanism: A hydraulic cylinder or electric motor drives the opening and closing of the bucket lobes, connected by a wire rope or chain.
Suspension system: The grab bucket is suspended from the lifting mechanism via a wire rope or chain, ensuring stable material grabbing and release.
Sensors and feedback systems: These include position sensors and weight sensors, used to monitor the grab bucket's status and material weight.

Electrical and Control Systems:
The electrical system comprises motors, control cabinets, cables, sensors (such as encoders and position sensors), and frequency converters, which are used to drive and control the operation of various mechanisms.
The control system includes a programmable logic controller (PLC), operating handles, a control console, and a human-machine interface (HMI), enabling automated crane operation and monitoring, including position control, speed regulation, and safety features.
Safety devices, such as limit switches, emergency stop buttons, overload protection, and anti-collision systems, ensure safe operation.
