What is the hydraulic system of a container tilter?

Dec 05, 2025

Power Unit of the Container Tilter

Hydraulic Pump Station: The "heart" of the system. Typically uses an electric motor-driven triple pump or variable pump:

Main Pump (High Pressure, High Flow): Provides the enormous power required for the main tilting action.

Auxiliary Pump (Medium/Low Pressure): Provides pilot oil for the control system, locking mechanism, etc.

Cooling Circulation Pump: Forces oil circulation for heat dissipation.

Oil Tank: Equipped with an air filter, level gauge, temperature sensor, and heater (suitable for low-temperature environments).

Actuating Elements

Hydraulic Motor or Hydraulic Cylinder:

Option A: Hydraulic Motor + Reducer: Drives the rotating spindle. Advantages include flexible arrangement and extremely high output torque; it is the mainstream solution for achieving smooth and continuous rotation.

Option B: Long-Stroke Double Cylinder: Achieves rotation by pushing a rocker arm. The structure is straightforward, but synchronization requirements are extremely high; it is mostly used in specific structures.

Control Unit

Main Control Valve Block of the container tilter: The "brain" of the system. Typically, a customized valve assembly integrating multiple valves, including:

Proportional Directional Valve: The core control valve. It proportionally controls the direction and flow of hydraulic fluid via electrical signals, thereby achieving stepless speed regulation and precise control of the tilting speed.

Counterbalance Valve: One of the most critical safety valves.

Installed on the return oil line of the actuator, it creates back pressure to prevent the container from stalling and falling due to its own weight during tilting.

Relief Valve (Safety Valve): Sets the maximum operating pressure of the system to prevent overload.

Hydraulic Lock (Hydraulic Controlled Check Valve): Locks the oil circuit when stationary to prevent drift due to internal leakage.
