Timber grapple is a spreader designed in the form of a double flap, which facilitates the gripping, handling and loading and unloading of lumber and other materials of various sizes in long and large dimensions, such as logs, lumber, pipes, drums and so on. Usually consists of bucket body, jaws, bracket, opening and closing mechanism. Grab bucket body is generally wide, can be customized according to the material to be grabbed the number of flaps, such as 4-flap, 5-flap, 6-flap, 7-flap, 8-flap and so on.
Applications
Timber grab is usually used with various cranes such as tower crane and gantry crane. It is widely used in log yard, forestry, wood processing, port unloading, logistics and transportation.
Classification
According to the driving method can be divided into two categories: Electro-Hydraulic Grab and Mechanical Grab.
Electro-Hydraulic Timber Grab Bucket
The hydraulic grapple itself is equipped with an opening and closing structure, generally driven by hydraulic cylinders, and the grapple can be rotated 360° using a hydraulic rotating device.
Mechanical Timber Grab Bucket
Mechanical grab itself is not configured to open and close the structure, usually driven by the rope or linkage external force, according to the operating characteristics can be divided into single-rope grab, double-rope grab and four-rope grab.
Difference between single rope grapple, double rope grapple, and four rope grapple
1. Single-rope grab: The same wire rope is used for supporting and opening/closing ropes. Through a special locking device to make the wire rope take turns to play the role of support and open and close. The winding mechanism of single-rope grab is simple and used for light work.
2. Double-rope grab: There are separate support ropes and opening and closing ropes, which are wound on the reels of the support mechanism and opening and closing mechanism respectively.
★ Principle of operation of a two-rope grab:
◇ The support rope and the opening rope are lowered at the same time and the grapple is inserted into the stockpile with the opening of the bucket.
◇ Tighten the opening and closing ropes, the grapple closes and grabs the material.
◇ The support rope and the opening and closing ropes rise at the same time and the material moves with the grab in the closed state.
◇ The support ropes do not move, the opening and closing ropes fall, the grab opening opens and the material is discharged.
3. Four-rope grab: There are two separate support ropes and two opening and closing ropes each, two of which are connected to the balance frame of the bearing beam on the grab, and the other two opening and closing ropes are connected to the two wire ropes wrapped around the grab pulley block. The working process is the same as that of the double-rope grab.
How to pick out a grapple?
1. First of all, according to the crane to choose the grab power form.
Grab is a crane under the fetching device, so even the most advanced grab, but also cannot be separated from the crane and complete the work independently. And vice versa.
e.g. Choose mechanical grab, if the crane has only 1 hoisting reel, it can only be equipped with a single rope grab; if the crane has two hoisting reels, you can choose a smoother and more efficient four-rope grab.
e.g. The rated lifting capacity of the crane is 35T, you can only choose the total lifting capacity does not exceed 35T (grapple weight + cargo weight ≤ 35T) grapple, overweight is not safe.
2. According to the type of materials to be loaded and unloaded to select the structure of the grapple form.
Grapples are used for loading and unloading all kinds of bulk cargoes and are classified into general-purpose, special-purpose and customized types. According to their own weight is divided into light, medium and heavy. So what kind of goods should be loaded and unloaded with the corresponding grapple.
e.g. The type of cargo to be loaded and unloaded is coal, with a light double-valve grab, if with a heavy double-valve grab, the loading and unloading efficiency is at least 50% lower, and this results in a waste of costs.
e.g. The type of goods to be loaded and unloaded is grain and other small particles of bulk materials, with double-flap grabs, multi-flap grabs are not applicable.
