What Is A Hydraulic Grab Bucket?

Jan 03, 2025

Grab through hydraulic cylinders as the driving force

According to the driving mode, it can be divided into two categories: hydraulic grabs and mechanical grabs.

The hydraulic grab itself is equipped with an opening and closing structure, which is generally driven by a hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic grab composed of multiple jaw plates is also called a hydraulic orange peel grab. Hydraulic grabs are widely used in hydraulic special equipment, such as hydraulic excavators, hydraulic lifting towers, etc.

Hydraulic grabs are hydraulic structural parts products, which are composed of hydraulic cylinders, buckets (jaw plates), connecting columns, bucket ear plates, bucket ear sleeves, bucket teeth, tooth seats, and other parts. Therefore, welding is the most critical manufacturing process of hydraulic grabs, and the welding quality directly affects the structural strength and service life of hydraulic grabs. In addition, the hydraulic cylinder is also the most critical driving component.

Hydraulic grab is a special industry equipment accessory. It requires special equipment to operate efficiently and with high quality, such as CNC plasma cutting machine, beveling milling machine, plate rolling machine, welding positioner, boring machine, hydraulic test bench, etc.
Hydraulic grab for excavator: divided into two types: rotary and non-rotating. The grab without rotary adopts the oil circuit of the excavator bucket cylinder, and no hydraulic valve block and pipeline are added; the grab with rotary needs to add a set of hydraulic valve blocks and pipelines to control.

Applicable occasions for hydraulic grab for excavator

  •  Excavation of foundation pits, deep pit excavation, and loading of mud, sand, coal, and gravel for building foundations.
  •  The grab is especially suitable for excavation and loading on one side of a ditch or restricted space.
  •  The grapple suitable for loading and unloading ships, trains, and cars.
