Wear And Management Of Grab Buckets

Oct 17, 2024

The common failure of grab buckets during use is abrasive wear. According to the relevant data analysis, it can be found that among the failure forms of grab buckets, about 40% of the grab buckets lose their working performance due to tip wear, and about 30% of the grab buckets lose their working performance due to blade wear.

The use of grab buckets is very frequent, and the operation level of the operating driver is limited, so the failure rate of grab buckets is very high. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the inspection of these parts during daily inspections, and also do a good job of maintenance of these parts.

Solutions

To better manage the grab bucket, ensure its production and ensure its safety, it is effective according to the design and use of the grab bucket, the maintenance of the equipment and the personnel composition of the repair, its working scope and working procedures.

Develop a perfect grab management log, arrange duty and record the situation of the grab.

For example, how often to add lubricating oil to the grapple (hydraulic grapple also contains hydraulic oil), whether there is deformation, wear and tear of the important parts of the grapple, the storage of spare parts, whether it is implemented and so on.

  • During the use of the grapple, the operator must ensure that the grapple is refilled in good time every day and that the upper part of the grapple is refilled every Monday and Thursday. If there are special circumstances, this may be postponed by one day and duly recorded in the logbook.
  • When refuelling, the grab must meet the standard to ensure sufficient lubrication. If the refuelling is not up to standard, this must be recorded in good time and effectively reported to the inspector or technical officer. Every refuelling situation must be recorded in the logbook.
  • The truck driver shall take the initiative to accept the advice of the fuelling supervisor during fuelling. Drivers must effectively prevent accidents such as friction between the grab and the cabin during operation and prevent similar accidents from occurring as a result of incorrect operating methods.
  • Regular training and assessment, etc. for grab operators and associated personnel.
